Gray papercovered boards, gilt-stamped blue cloth spines. Owner's name penned on front flies of both volumes, school reference stamp and Milton Offutt's decorative bookplate on pastedown in volume one only, spine and edges a bit worn, corners bumped, very good lacking the dustwrappers. Milton Offutt was a professor at Johns Hopkins University and the author of *The Protection of Citizens Abroad by the Armed Forces of the United States* published in 1928. A selection of letters between Charles Francis Adams, Sr. and his son Henry, who are on diplomatic post in London during the American Civil War, and Charles Francis Adams, Jr., a union cavalry officer back in the states. The senior Adams is the son of President John Quincy and grandson of President John Adams. (Inventory #: 251959)
