In this letter, Bunche thanks the recipient for a letter of congratulations, in full: "Dear Irwin, I wish to thank you for the very kind sentiments expressed in your congratulatory message on the occasion of the award to me of the Nobel Peace Prize. I am deeply appreciative. Sincerely yours..." Float-mounted and matted in white beside a 9.75 x 7.5-inch photo of Bunche seated casually on a desk with a world map in the background; set in a black frame measuring 15.5 x 20.75 inches. Natural folds but still in fine condition. American political scientist, academic, and diplomat who received the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize for his late 1940s mediation in Israel and was involved in the formation of the United Nations.
