Contemporary ownership signature on front free endpaper and at head of second titlepage. Very good. A later printing, after the first of 1843, of this amusing and fictitious tale of a would- be emigrant to North America. The narrator, having decided to cast off his native Britain, seeks out the perfect new home, travelling first to Canada, then the United States, and on to the West Indies, South Africa, and finally Australia. Pithy and humorous descriptions, particularly of Americans, abound. The second item is a Victorian romance cum adventure tale set in Italy. Surprisingly scarce.
