London, 1677. [2],22pp. Small quarto. Modern plain wrapper. Three small holes in titlepage. Persistent soiling. Upper edge trimmed a bit close, affecting a few page numbers. A fair copy. A little-known treaty between the Sun King, Louix XIV of France, and his cousin, King Charles II of England. At the time, England and France were united in a war against the Netherlands and the two nations had relatively equal navies. In this treaty, the two nations agree to free trade and open ports, and to free trade in times of war, except in contraband items. Several of the non-contraband goods listed are from the Americas, including tobacco. The final three pages contain the printed text of a passport form to be carried by British ships. Scarce.
