First English-language edition. Fauchet (1761-1834) replaced GenĂȘt as French minister to the United States, and herein describes the unstable political relationship between France and the United States in the wake of the French Revolution: "General Washington ceased to view our revolution with a favourable eye, as soon as he saw La Fayette and the king struck...."
