Boston: Samuel Kneelan, 1754. [2],52pp. Lacks half-title. Dbd. Later paper spine, lightly chipped. Light tanning and foxing, moderate dampstaining to last few leaves. Good. Election anniversary sermon preached by Jonathan Mayhew, pastor of the West Church in Boston. Mayhew (1720-1766) was a prominent Congregationalist minister in Boston, and a man who was never afraid to speak his mind. Many of Mayhew's spiritual ideas are seen as a precursor to Unitarian thought. "His famous address, 'The Snare Broken' (1766), embodied public satisfaction over repeal of the Stamp Act that occurred shortly before his death" - ANB. EVANS 7256.
