London: The Readers Library Publishing Co. Ltd., 1928. 12mo. Gilt decorated plum cloth. Eight plates. Some foxing et edges, usual tanning to text stock, otherwise a sound copy of this poorly made book, in a bright, striking example of the pictorial dust jacket (a few small nicks and edge tears). First UK edition of this novelization of Douglas Fairbanks's (writing as Elton Thomas) screenplay for the 1927 film, starring Fairbanks, Lupe Velez, et al, under the direction of F. Richard Jones. Ball was himself a screenwriter and director during the teens, and published two early manuals on screenwriting. He was responsible for a number of novelizations of films published by G&D and Readers Library, as well as original works of fiction. (Inventory #: WRCLIT75743)
