Los Angeles: VION Publishing Company, Inc.. Near Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1964). First Edition. Hardcover. [nice clean book, with only minor wear to spine ends; jacket a bit edgeworn but still quite attractive]. (B&W photographs) Obviously an "authorized" biography, with a front-jacket-flap blurb from Weissmuller himself, in which he states to his fans and prospective readers that "this book was written in answer to your constant requests to learn more about my life as it happened from childhood onward to the present." He's also quoted, near the end of the book, thus: "I want to have my biography written while I'm still around to censor it -- nuts to a post-mortem!" Well, censor it he may well have done, but it's still an interesting and informative tome, and gives more or less equal time to his athletic career and his movie life. Includes an appendix listing all his swimming records and achievements -- a lot! The dust jacket on this book is easily worn, and not often found in such nice condition. . (Inventory #: 22129)
