And 32 wood engravings.Upper hinge has been repaired; board edges and spine rubbed; light foxing to some of the plates; the map has a short marginal tear not affecting the image, a couple of folds strengthened from the back, else this is a very good exemplar.Thomas Witlam Atkinson (17991861) was an English architect, artist and traveler in Siberia and Central Asia. Between 1847 and 1853 he traveled over 40 000 miles through Central Asia and Siberia. He also painted and documented his travels in two books that are today regarded as travel classics, of which this title is the first.
