London: Cassell Ad Co, 1915. First Edition. Hard Cover. Thick Quarto. 283pp.,color frontispiece, 8 photogravure ad 160 illustrations from photographs by Cherry Kearton, and a folding map; bound in dark blue pictorial cloth, stamped in white and blind, spine lettered and stamped in black and gilt. This is not a book about hunting but rather a book about an African expedition, a quest to film animals in their natural habitat which would be made into an exhibit for the Natural History Museum of New York but cameras of that time period were not capable of taking pictures in the dark, dense jungle. The only pictures that were taken were those in the open range where lighting was good. The folding map details the expedition, practically following the route of Stanley's Emin Pasha relief expedition of 1887. A very good+ copy. (Inventory #: 3305)
