First Edition of this author's first book, consisting of 1100 copies that were issued as the first volume (of 33) in Mathews & Lane's renowned "Keynotes Series." The cover / title page illustration, as well as the "key" design (incorporating the author's initials), is by Aubrey Beardsley. This copy is in the usual (hardbound) state; 500 copies were issued in wrappers, and the other 600 copies were issued in this hardbound format -- both on the same date, 2 December 1893.
