Gilt title on spine. Volume II only. Hardcover in poor condition with worn cloth, splits, tears, and light soil. Bug damage to front and rear joint with some holes in the gutter of pages towards the back. Rear hinge cracked and rear board attached but loose. Light toning and foxing to contents. A nice gray hardcover box with silver title on spine was made to house the book. The box is in very good condition. The inscription of Alexander H. Stephens is located on the right front flyleaf. Stephens was a Georgia Politician and Vice-President of the Confederate States of America. He resided at Liberty Hall, Crawfordsville Georgia. After the War he served in United States House of Representatives and left in 1882 to become Governor of Georgia. He died in March of 1883 while serving as Georgia's Governor.
