Photograph Signed, black and white page from a book, 4to, showing Miro head and shoulders leaning as he draws a sketch
by MIRO, JOAN
Miro signs on light paper of his drawing, "Miro." Note somewhat jagged left edge from page's removal from a book. Miro earned international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism. In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onwards, Miró expressed contempt for conventional painting methods as a way of supporting bourgeois society, and famously declared an "assassination of painting" in favor of upsetting the visual elements of established painting.
