A presentable copy of both volumes of Foote's Sketches, signed by the author with a personal inscription dated 1855 in the first volume.. There are several old marginal notes. In red cloth stamped in blind; rebacked with nearly all of the original spine laid back down on each volume. With chapters on Hampden Sidney College and Moses Hoge. The Second Series has an interesting chapter on the Shawnee Chief Cornstalk and the Battle of Point Pleasant, the major engagement of Dunmore's War. The two volumes rarely found together.
