With moderate bumping to the extremities, roughly a dozen very tiny, faint stains on the covers, and a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. The dust jacket has pieces of masking tape backing short closed tears in the edges. Warmly inscribed by the author on the front free endsheet. Inscription reads: "For the Nattmans, this / item they will not be / able to find in any book - / store in America, - or / maybe Europe! / Wallace Stegner."
