During 1964 Langston Hughes, in collaboration with the producer Stella Holt, enjoyed several productions of his gospel musical of the freedom movement directed by Alvin Ailey and William Hairston. "Jerico-Jim Crow" premiered on Sunday, January 5, 1964, at the Sanctuary Theatre with the Greenwich Players, and the pp. SHOWCARD is associated with late March shows of that production cosponsored by CORE, SNCC and the NAACP.
