New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1984. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good +/very good. SIGNED. 203pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] 1/4 mustard cloth with orange paper covered boards. With a minor splaying of the boards, and rubbing to the surface of the jacket. Signed by Edward Abbey on the front free endsheet. A collection of essays selected personally by the author from his various "picture book" collections: Slickrock, Desert Images, The Hidden Canyon and Cactus Country. Abbey always complained that no one ever read his words in the picture books, they just looked at the photos. The hardbound version of this collection contains the infamous misspelling of Larry McMurtry's name on the blurb on the dust jacket: "The Thoreau of the American West-Larry MacMurtry" which is often incorrectly pointed out as a first edition point. The hardbound only had one printing, along with the simultaneous trade paperback, all of which contain the error. It was corrected on subsequent paperbound editions. (Inventory #: 47583)
