1895. In the style of Kate Greenaway. A wooden folding fan with a printed satin leaf showing three scenes of children at play, illustrated in the style of Kate Greenaway. The image is in muted shades of red, pink, green, blue, and orange and depicts boys and girls in typical Greenaway period dress of bonnets, pinafores, and skeleton suits playing badminton, hide and seek, and jump rope. Flowers bloom around the frolicking children, slightly separating the scenes, and village buildings sit off in the distance. The satin leaf is backed in linen, and all parts of the fan, including the rivet and loop, are intact. Satin a touch browned at the folds and small stain to one of the sticks, else a fine example of a lovely illustrated fashion piece.
