by [Saint Domingue]
Cap Français, [Saint Domingue: Chez Batillot jeune, et Compagni, 1792. 3pp., printed on a folded folio sheet. Quarto. Two small chips to first leaf, scattered very light foxing. Near fine. Untrimmed. A letter dated Jan. 8, 1792, from the French commissioners in Saint Domingue to the Provincial Assembly of the western départment. It rejects their appeal that all the commissioners go to Port-Au-Prince from Cap Français, but notes that one of their number, St. Leger, is travelling between the south and west provinces carrying out business and negotiations. "Il y portera l'impartialité, le patriotisme et l'amour de la paix, qui sont les bases de notre conduite; et nous ne doutons pas, messieurs, que vous ne secondiez avec zèle les mesures qu'il vous comuniquera pour le rétablissement de l'ordre et de la tranquilité publique." Rare, as is all early Caribbean printing, and not recorded in OCLC or the FRENCH UNION CATALOG. (Inventory #: WRCAM51778)
