1866. · New York:
by [Harper’s Weekly].
Folio, newspaper, illustrated, 529-544 pp. Chips, small tears and folds in margins and edges, soiling and darkening to front cover, normal aging and browning to contents; otherwise about good. A good portion of this issue is dedicated to the July 30, 1866 riot in New Orleans. Violence erupted when freed blacks were permitted to parade in the city, and southern whites attacked them killing over 40, and wounding many more. Harper's provides several wood engravings to illustrate what happened. (Inventory #: 106221)
