Without its plain brown paper dust jacket. 360 pages including an index, bibliography and text. Illustrated with a two page, color frontispiece map, a second map in the text and reproductions of contemporary works of art. The author's original edition of this title was published in 1918. In the following 20 years a significant amount of new material came to light necessitating a major revision of the book. A great many of the pages in this copy are uncut.
