Boston: Printed and sold by Rogers and Fowle in Queen- stree, 1748. 82; 23,[1]pp. Half titles. Later three-quarter morocco and marbled boards. Hinges and spine rubbed, light edge and corner wear. First half title somewhat soiled and with ownership inscription, minor paper loss to several leaves not affecting text, light dampstaining to rear leaves. About very good. Two religious tracts by John Beach, the first in reply to an argument put forward by John Dickinson, who had died the year before, and part of an ongoing dispute between the two that had resulted in the publication of a flurry of pamphlets on both sides. The second work discusses the finer points of Calvinism in response to an unnamed essay by Jedediah Mills. Beach was an Anglican minister who held numerous heterodox views; he was eventually shot in his own pulpit in 1782 for his Loyalist tendencies. Scarce, particularly with the half titles.
