Illustrated with engravings by Phiz. Bound in near contemporary 3/4 black polished calf over marbled paper covered boards, slightly raised bands gilt, compartments decorated in blind, maroon morocco spine label gilt, binding rubbed, corners somewhat worn, text clean and bright, plates toned around the edges without foxing, Owner's bookplate and early name. A very nice copy of a book which was first serialized and first appeared in twenty individual wrap3332.pered issues, as did most of Dickens' works. This copy, the first in book form was published afterwards in the same year.
