Nice, bright, sturdy copy in full tan leather, decorated in gilt on the spine with red leather title label, all edges marbled, endpapers marbled. Corners, edges, and joints of boards somewhat worn and rubbed, shallow chip to head of spine. A minor tear to the folding map has been archivally mended. Very sparse foxing, if any. Neat previous ownership signature on a preliminary blank page, followed by a 1954 gift inscription in French. Bound without publisher's advertisements. Still a very attractive volume despite some external wear to the very prone polished calf binding.. Octavo. 14.5 x 22 cm. xxxi; 658 pp. Illustrated with two maps, one of which is a large folding map, and numerous plates, chiefly from drawings by Captain Grant. (Inventory #: 26506)
