Diary consists of 352 pages of medical information and illustrations. 152 pages of lightly browned blank lined pages and pages with columns. The rear section of the diary (xiii-xliv pages) include color and black and white plant illustrations and advertisements. Gold front and rear end papers with green horse patterns. On the blank verso of the frontispiece is a gift inscription, "June 6th, 12 With compliments of Fred Cu???. On the verso of the right front end sheet is a sketched roman column illustration with the printed year 1912. Below 1912 is printed "This Book Belongs To" with the hand written inscription "DA Barnett, U.S.S. Saratoga Shanghai, China." On the verso of the rear end paper is an advertisement. On the rear paste down is "ruled" memoranda page. Light scattered foxing to early title page and preliminary pages. No written entries inside. Included with the Diary is an advertisement envelope for Burroughs Wellcome & Co. and a 33 page color illustrated Supplement to Wellcome's Medical Diary, 1913 titled - "Illustrations of Medicine Chests and Cases.
