Hugo's work is contextualized with an introduction by Drew Middleton (191390), Military Correspondent of The New York Times, and an epilogue, "The Waterloo Dispatch," by Reginald Colby. Fifteen realistic black and white illustrations are reproduced from engravings by military artist Edouard Detaille (18481912). Binding: Quarter dark green grained calf and green marbled papercovered boards with gilt lettering on spine, book design by Reynard Biemiller.
Bound as above, top edge gilt; corners ever so slightly rubbed. In hunter green publisher's slipcase with gilt lettering; gently sunned around edges. The volume itself, in excellent condition.
