France: Scheibli Editions, 1999. Hardcover. Near Fine. Very handsome portfolio of loosely-bound (as issued) plates of Les Autochrome Lumiere, from the private collection of the Lumiere family. Roughly 50 reproductions in brilliant color, showcasing this early color photography process. Patented in 1903 by the Lumiere brothers and first marketed in 1907, Les Autochromes Lumiere was the principal color photography process in use up until the mid 30s. The group is housed in a ribbon-backed paper folder and a lovely pictorial chemise. The quarto plates themselves and the paper folder and the chemise are all in clean, bright, Near Fnie to Fine condition. Accompanying text by Nathalie Boulouch.
