Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company letterhead stationery
by [Stevens, Wallace]
Hartford, CT: Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company, 1950. A single sheet of letterhead stationery from the desk of Wallace Stevens, Vice President of the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company. Stevens joined the company in 1916, and was promoted to vice president in 1934. The circular company seal, depicting a stag, was trademarked in 1947, dating this stationery to the final decade of Stevens's career. Although generations of readers have found it odd that a poet as imaginative as Stevens maintained such a staid day job, he was committed to his work in the insurance industry, and declined a faculty position at Harvard because it would have required him to leave the company. A surprising survival, in fine condition. Single unused sheet of letterhead stationery, measuring 10.5 x 7.25 inches. (Inventory #: 1001460)
