N.p. [New York]: Contemporary Publishing Association, 1920. Early edition, in the same year as the original Moscow printing, of this major Lenin work which is perhaps more familiar under the later translation of its title, "Left-Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder." There were at least three English-language editions issued in this year: this, by "The Contemporary Publishing Association" (publishing arm of the short-lived Communist Party of America); another by the Communist Party of Great Britain; and a rarely-seen Moscow printing in English. No priority has been established between the three, but the London edition is generally cited as the first English-language edition (though by what authority, we have been unable to determine; instinct would have us side with Moscow). In any event, a somewhat uncommon printing, with fewer than 20 institutional copies located via WorldCat. First American edition. 12mo. Printed wrappers; 112pp. Rear wrapper and final 30 leaves chipped at upper corner (not affecting text); text paper browned; Good or better. (Inventory #: 30362)
The history, literature, and art of American social movements, including Civil Rights, Feminism, Labor History, Radical Politics, and Counterculture.
