Publisher's pale rose cloth, decorated in blind with child's head on lower board, spine lettered in gilt. Frontis. Illustrated with 27 wood engravings. Early pencil inscription, small ink drop on upper board, inner hinges cracking; a good copy. One of a number of printings of this thumb Bible from stereotypes made by J.A. James in Cincinnati and distributed under several imprints. "Most commonly bound ... with embossed design of child's head on rear cover [as here]... This edition is the commonest for this title.
