The complete set of five unpag. fasciscules, each approx. 20 pp., subtitled "Homenaje a Las Iglesias Caídas", containing information on destroyed and ruined churches and other religious structures in Catalunya, many victims of "La Semana Trágica" in 1909, especially convents and monasteries. La Semana Trágica, or the Tragic Week, occurred from July 25 to August 2, 1909, and refers to a series of bloody confrontations between the Spanish army and the working classes of Barcelonia and other cities in Catalunya, backed by anarchists, socialists, and republicans. Many of the rioters with antimilitarist, anticolonial, and anticlerical citizens who considered the Roman Catholic Church a corrupt institution. As a result, many convents were burned, sepulchers vandalized, and graves emptied. Approximately 8 members of the police and army died, while 100 to 150 civilians were killed that week, while over 1,700 additional persons were indicted for armed rebellion.
