Title page prefacing 10 works of graphic art and 10 long playing 12 in. vinyl records commemorating the life and music of Louis Armstrong on the fifth anniversary of his death, including works by Horst Antes, Uwe Bremer, Johannes Grützke, Pit Morell, Peter Nagel, Michael Mathias Prechtl, Dieter Roth, Albert Schindehütte, Johannes Vennekamp, and Arno Waldschmidt executed as fine prints in a variety of media, including stone lithography, aquatint, silkscreen and other processes, each signed and numbered in pencil, along with dozens of sound recordings by Armstrong and a host of his best known collaborators including Bing Crosby, Billy May, Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Russell Garcia, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Brown, Buddy Rich, and others, all recorded for Verve records between 1956 and 1960. An extraordinary work in tribute to the most iconic figure of 20th century jazz, by a who's-who of post-war German graphic artists, including the Werkstatt Rixdorfer artists, with whom Merlin Verlag is closely associated.
