Iakov (or Yakov) Chernikhov was a well-known constructivist architect and graphic designer, called by some the "Soviet Piranesi" due to his prolific output. During his lifetime, he created around 17,000 drawings and projects. His volumes on architectural design published between 1927 and 1933 are often considered to be amongst the most innovative of their time. The other titles he published during this period include: The Art of Graphic Representation, The Construction of Architectural and Machine Forms, and 101 Architectural Fantasies. He also produced a number of beautifully designed architectural fantasies of historic architecture, which were never exhibited during his lifetime. (Inventory #: 38003)
