Unpaginated (25 leaves, 12 printed recto and verso, 13 printed recto only) calendar for 1905, most likely presented as a promotional item for the dye manufacturers based in Leipzig, including a poem for each month as well as 12 full-page illustrations in superb colors and gold showing elaborate stylized images of fairy tales in a classic Jugendstil aesthetic, with other border illustrations and flourishes on text pages as well. Sm. sq. 4to. Stiff wrpps., hole-punched but lacking silk ties so pages are loose, with another striking Jugendstil design on front cover, printed in gold, white and gray on a dark background. Leipzig 1905. This rare and beautiful work, emblematic of the fruition of the Jugendstil era, is found by WorldCat in only one library in North America. Though unattributed, the illustrations are by Josef Urban and Heinrich Leffler, and the verse is by Ludwig Fulda. The illustrations and text are identical to those used in another publication by the firm, Marchen Kalendar 1905, published in Vienna the same year. (Inventory #: 47025)
