London, Nd: Frederick Warne and Co. Square Octavo. The author/artist's work featured some of the more colourful and detailed beginnings of the child-in-the-garden motifs that would characterize many nursery rhymes and children's stories for decades to come. His illustrations followed much like those of Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway but with his own style, following much towards the Arts and Crafts movement. 56pp., beautifully illustrated in color with music and pictures. Bound in decorative green paper covered boards decorted in white, lettered in orange, backed in brown cloth, edges rubbed, a lovely copy.
