New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1925. First Edition. Very Good +. First issue, with the four main issue points present: 1) pg. 60, line 16 "chatter" 2) pg. 119, line 22 "northern" 3) pg. 205, lines 9-10 "sick in tired" 4) pg. 211, lines 7-8 "Union Street station." A Very Good + copy with some light dampstains to the cloth, previous owners' stamps to the end papers and separation between the final page and the rear end paper. The flaws notwithstanding a copy that is well above average, with bright spine gilt.Despite its grand stature today, the book was a commercial failure during Fitzgerald's lifetime, much to the author's surprise and disappointment. Fitzgerald had felt the power of the novel and believed that it was a work of mature artistry. Modern scholars and readers agree and now "Gatsby" is a keystone of any modern first collection. Very Good +.
