Folder of reprinted items associated with a retrospective exhibition on Josep Dalmau and the history of the Galeries Dalmau, held at the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Cataluña y Baleares Comisión de Cultura from February 22 to March 12, 1969, documents include a flyer for a 1918 Miró exhibition, five different artistic manifestos, an introduction to Dada by Tristan Tzara, and reproductions of postcards and letters to Josep Dalmau from Miró and Dalí, lacking two items listed in the index. The Galeries Dalmau in Barcelona, founded by painter and art dealer Josep Dalmau, held the first exhibition on Cubism in 1912 featuring Jean Metzinger, Albet Gleizes, Juan Gris, Marie Laurencin, Marcel Duchamp, and August Agero. Later exhibitions were held on the works of Joan Miró, Francis Picabia, Salvador Dalí, and additional groups of abstract, neoplastic, and other modern artists. The gallery was instrumental in introducing avant-garde art to Barcelona and exporting the work and ideas of Catalan artists abroad.
