[Lexington, MA: D. C. Heath & Company, 1906. Gray wrapper over boards. Portraits. Wrapper imperfect, with large chunks missing, otherwise sound and internally very good. Special limited presentation edition, one of at least 1000 copies thus, denoted as "... presented ... with the compliments of D.C. Heath and Company by E.R. Smith." This is copy #137, is designated for Charles E. Wilson Esq. in manuscript, and like some copies, (but not all), is inscribed beneath the limitation statement: "Greetings. - James Whitcomb Riley." Additionally, this copy bears a characteristically suspect presentation inscription "To - Mrs. Eugene Field - With hale Hoosier greetings - James Whitcomb Riley." There is a strong probability that the inscription to Mrs. Field is among range of Field-Sickles forgeries. RUSSO, pp. 180-1. (Inventory #: WRCLIT76488)
