Deventer: A. Tjaden, 1865. 22 pp. Illustrated with nine relief chromollithographs, all of which are captioned along the lower margin. A Dutch retelling of the Grimm fairy tale, which was first published in 1812. The illustrations, which are unusual for being relief-printed, indicate that the original version of the story is followed fairly closely. The publisher, Tjaden, was active between 1855 and 1878, and this title is quite rare, known in only two institutional copies, both of which are in the Netherlands. In the original binding of Dutch gilt paper backed with purple flocked cloth. Small spot to upper front cover, minor rubbing to edges. Near fine overall. (2 1/4 by 2 5/8; 52x67mm).
