Paris: Librairie "Les Pas Perdus", 1951. Soft cover. Very Good. Preface de Paul Eluard. Illustrated with halftone reproductions after collages by Valentine Penrose, with an original etching ("The Couple") by Pablo Picasso laid in. First edition, #390 of 400 copies (the Picasso etching is #60 of 350). A selection of Penrose's surrealist collages and poetry, which were greatly admired by Eluard and Picasso, among others. Quarto. Original printed paper wrappers. Typical mild toning to the Picasso etching, with some minor splitting and wear to the spine heel. Accompanied by the original glassine dust wrapper, which is edgeworn and chipped, and a custom mylar sleeve. Overall, very good.
