1902. Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood and Sons, 1902. 32 pp ads dated Oct 1902. Original light green cloth decorated in black. First Edition, with the ad catalogue in the first state (some copies have ads dated November). This book is prized principally as the first book appearance of one of the "two other stories" -- "Heart of Darkness," Conrad's classic tale of a journey up the Congo into the darkness both of the jungle and of man's primal instincts. Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 film "Apocalypse Now" placed the same character, Kurtz, in Vietnam War-era Cambodia.~This is a near-fine copy (very little wear, though the spine is slightly sunned). Cagle A7a.1. In a morocco-backed slipcase with inner chemise. (Inventory #: 13484)
