(iv), 76, (iv) pp. annotated history and detailed architectural description of the ancient Greek ruins at Paestum (Poseidonia in Greek) by the French neoclassical architect, with intro., list of subscribers, and table of contents, illus. by 14 engraved plates, one folding, incl. elevations, facades, plans, and detailed stylistic studies. Delagardette's monograph presented the first architectural analysis of Paestum's unusually well preserved temples based on a thorough system of measurement. The exceptional plates, engraved by Moissy and Gaitte after Delagardette's drawings, contributed to the canonization of the site as an exemplar of classical architecture. (Inventory #: 48013)
