188 Invitation to Rex Ball Mardi Gras "The Semitic Races" by Appel
At first appearance a 8 1/2" x 3" die-cut quiver of arrows. When one folds out the 8 folds it turns into an elaborate scene featuring scenes from "The Semetic Races" in the form of pages of a book on one side and busts of rulers on the reverse. The middle of the center page in the book reads "REX 188y" Lithography by F. Appel, Paris. Brilliant color. Measures 9 3/8" x 10 1/2" when open flat. Found in Mardi Gras Treasure's Invitations of the Golden Age, by Henri Schindler, pgs. 54 & 55. Note the examples in the book are lacking the two base flaps adjacent the book page.
