The Dewey Reception in New York City --Nine Hundred and Eighty Views and Portraits
by Compiled by Moses King
Moses King, 1899. Cloth. Very Good. A handsome copy of the 1899 1st edition of this Moses King-inspired accounting of the hero's reception given Admiral George Dewey by New York and, beyond this, a record of the distinguished citizens themselves making up the committee to honor Admiral Dewey. Includes "980 portraits and views". Tight and VG+ in its green cloth, with lavish decoration and bright gilt-lettering at the front panel. Light, subtle staining to the panels, internally very clean, with no writing or markings of any kind. Tall quarto, crisp black-and-white portraits thruout. A nice piece of Americana and, specifically, turn-of-the-century New York history. (Inventory #: 13283)
