Top inch of titlepages cut out, not affecting the text. Very good. First French edition after the first edition of the previous year. Talbot went to Canada in 1818, and gives a detailed account of his stay in the country, which included tours as far west as Niagara. He describes details of natural history and gives advice for emigrants. This copy owned by both Wolfred Nelson and Joseph Norbert Provencher. Nelson was the mayor of Montreal from 1854-1856 and Provencher is distinguished for his contribution in opening a mission at the Red River Settlement, where he eventually became the first bishop.
