A rare appraisal of British Columbia from an important officer of the Hudson's Bay Company. "This is a straightforward and useful account of British Columbia as it was in 1872, with some interesting notes concerning the route of the proposed Canadian Pacific Railway" - Streeter. "Anderson was Chief Trader of the Hudson's Bay Company, with whom his service at Vancouver extended back to 1832. According to Bancroft he was the most scholarly of all the company's officers and without the information he supplied, a correct history of Oregon and British Columbia could not have been written" - Eberstadt. After his service with the Hudson's Bay Company, Anderson was appointed by the Dominion government as Commissioner for Indian Land Difficulties. Rarely encountered in the market.
