Very uncommon work that was originally submitted as a Masters Thesis at Brigham Young University. Illustrated with photographs. Smoot was an early convert who served as the second mayor of Salt Lake City, and as a trustee for Brigham Young Academy (later University). Smoot's wife, Margaret, named the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, and Smoot was also the father of Senator Reed Smoot. (Inventory #: 49193)
