Glasgow: James MacLehose, 1907. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Quite a nice edition of Smith's writings in two volumes, with a number of plates, many of them folding. In Volume I, a folding facsimile title from the 1624 edition; a folding plate of Princess Frances, Duchess of Richmond and Lenox; plate of Pocahontas; folding plate of "The Adventures of John Smith" in Virginia, with map; folding plate with "The Summer Ils"; and a folding map of Virginia. In Volume II is a folding map of New England; a facsimile for The True Travells in the 1630 edition; a plate of Smith's "Travels Among the Turkes"; and a plate of a facsimile title page for The Sea Grammar. Previous owner has tipped in to the endpapers of Volume I a page from the Saturday Evening Post from 1927 with the text of The Magna Carta. The endpapers are toned, with a previous owner name on the front endpapers. There is scattered foxing throughout both volumes. Very Good binding. (Inventory #: 276124)
