Schoppe, a musicologist and artist, was director of the Robert Schumann-Haus in Zwickau from 1965-1992 and head of the Robert Schumann Society in Zwickau from 1990-1996. He lived in Liechtenstein, where he created a substantial body of artwork, both paintings and prints. He often made gifts of his prints to friends and musicians; his work rarely comes on the open market. His works, often inspired by nature, evidence a charming and sensitive introspection.. 100 x 98 mm. + wide margins. Printed on ivory laid paper and matted.
