Illustrated throughout with black & white photographs. Nevills was the first commercial guide on the San Juan, Green, and Colorado Rivers. This copy is inscribed by the editor, Roy Webb, to the prominent river runner, Art Gallenson, on the half title page. Gallenson was a pioneer of western commercial river running, helping to create river running expeditions in the Grand Canyon. Webb writes, "For Art, who knows & loves the river, Roy Webb.
